Comments on baby constipation?

sha sha Sharonna @ 7:19 am

NO. But glycerin suppositories work wonders and immediately. Call you Dr.s office and find out if your baby really is constipated, and get their advice. Sometimes newborns don't go all the time.

Three words for you:

CALL YOUR PEDIATRICIAN.

Don't go messing with a baby's delicate constitution without consulting a doctor.

i wouldnt even make a full bottle i would do 1/8 of juice ( apple works also ) and 3/8 water - if it doesnt work wait a few hours and and mix 1/2 and 1/2 ( but still only half a bottle )

Yes you can mix in two or three ounces. Also try putting about a tablespoon of dark kayro syrup in the bottle. If all else fails call your doctor both of my children had to be put on Mirilax for thier constipation which cleared up when they started eatting more solids and less formula. All the iron in the formula plugs those little ones right up.

I would say ask ped. first. Is your baby breast-fed? Breast-fed babies sometimes don't go every day.

I wouldn't do that with so young a baby.

My 7 month old got constipated all the time in the first few months. Especially from 5 weeks to 4 months.

We bought Karo syrup (light corn oil) and mixed a glob of that in water in his bottle. Took care of that! We had to do that like twice a week sometimes or more, cause the poor thing was hurting! However, he's fine now! Once he started eating baby food, he got more regular.

Good luck!

Well not sure about the juice but i use to only mix water and prune juice together!

FJM @ 9:40 am

In the old days they use to put a Tablespoon of the clear KARO syrup in the formula.

My child had problems and the Dr told me to use Haley's MO. As it does not cramp like the Milk of Magnesia does.

Maybe just adding a bottle of water between formula bottles.

Some May Disagree With This Ok Alot Are Gonna Disagree With This But Apple Juice Is The Best Thing For Them Being constipated And say the baby eats 2oz mix half a oz with the rest of it water usually does the trick may need to make it a little stronger but it should work just fine Also You Might Try and this is going out on a limb do to my 80 year old grandmother suggested it to me mixing just a small amount of apple sauce in with their milk…i dont know if that works or what it may do…so hopefully someone else will have better luck giving you a good answer…

Yes we had to give our son suppositories when he was
that young my wife says also try peaches.

Yes it is. What is a little easier on the baby's stomach and also works very well is to use a little bit off clear Kairo syrup. Add a teaspoon and a half to there bottle of formula or warm water and within an hour or so they should have some releif. I have four kids myself and that's what I used. I also used it on my little brother and he was colicky.

poof10958 @ 6:08 am

i wouldn't even mix it. Just give him one ounce two or three times a day till the problem is resolved.

MelNoelle @ 12:16 pm

Are you sure your baby is constipated? Is the baby breastfed or formula? Sometimes newborns don't "go" everyday and sometimes only once a week…I wonldn't give a 6 week old juice even if it is watered down.

Aliz @ 2:00 am

I use to use a little more Karo syrup in the formula when they were constipated. It work well, but made the stool a little green at times.

CaliforniaGrl @ 7:54 am

My Dr had me give him 2 oz of apple juice 2 x's a day…..my baby was 2 months at that time..Now I am putting 1 tsp of dark karo syrup plus juice 2 times a day. Call your Dr to see what he wants you to do.
